Welcome!  Upcoming Events is where we highlight our September through May weekly Tuesday programs, as well as any evening programs, special events, and summer programs. Our AAUW Branch members will also find links taking them to pages where they can make reservations and attend our programs virtually when that option is available.

AAUW MN Annual Meeting
April 26 and 27, 2024
Registration deadline extended to April 17

The Board voted to pay the registration fees for 14 delegates from our Branch to the Annual Meeting. Members who want to attend as a delegate should email Jan Quist their name, address, phone #, and email address. Jan will submit the registrations and arrange for payment for the first 14 members who contact her. Jan’s contact information can be found in the Branch directory.

The registration form (found HERE) has additional information about hotels and the tour of the Hastings City Hall. You do not need to submit a registration form if you go as a delegate through Jan.

    Important Branch Announcements

    • Nominations: Nominations are open for Branch Officers and Committee Chairs who will be elected at our May 7 Annual Meeting. Use the form HERE to nominate someone for an open position. Contact a member of the Nominations Committee with any questions.
    • Membership Renewal starts April 16: Most AAUW memberships are due to be renewed by July 1, 2024. Renewal packets will be available at the house during upcoming Tuesday meetings. Details HERE.
    • AAUW National Bylaws Change: AAUW National has once again scheduled a vote on changing the bylaws regarding membership requirements. For more information on the proposed changes click HERE.
      • Kelsey Waits, AAUW MN VP Public Policy, hosted a webinar discussing the upcoming vote. Go to our Tuesday Programs page for the link to a video recording of her presentation.
      • Voting on the changes will start on April 3 and end on May 15. Online voting is encouraged, and will close at 12:00 pm ET on the 15th.

    To mask or not to mask? Are you wondering about whether you should wear a mask when at in-person events during the coming cold, flu, and COVID season? Dr. Leana S. Wen, a professor at George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health, has some advice in a 9/7/23 column in the Washington Post that you can read HERE.

    Blended Harmony: The Kim Loo Sisters

    Making their way from Minneapolis to the flashing lights of Broadway in the 1930s, experience the story of the remarkable Kim Loo Sisters who were known as “the Chinese Andrew Sisters”. Starting at a young age, this quartet gained popularity during the swing era and performed across the country, on the silver screen of Hollywood, and overseas at USO shows.  This new musical is an homage to family, love, and the bond of these talented sisters through their lives on and off the stage. Co-produced with Theater MU and the History Theatre.

    Thirty tickets have been reserved and the cost is $32 each.
    Guests are welcome.
